How Does a Mattress Trial Period Work?

Sleep Trial Guide

A mattress trial period is a set number of nights after delivery during which you can sleep on the mattress at home and decide if it truly suits you, not just in a five-minute showroom test.

Quick Answer

What a Mattress Trial Period Actually Is

A mattress trial period gives you a set number of nights at home to judge a mattress properly, rather than deciding after a few minutes in a showroom.

Under Total Comfort's 30-night mattress trial, eligible mattresses may be returned within 30 days of delivery. A minimum 14-night break-in period is required before requesting a return or exchange, and the policy's eligibility conditions and fees apply.

Why Trials Exist

Why a Showroom Test Is Not Enough

Lying on a mattress fully clothed for a few minutes under showroom lighting does not tell you much about how it performs over a full 7 to 8 hour sleep, in your actual bedroom temperature, in your normal sleep position.

Trial periods exist because mattress comfort is something you can only properly judge after your body has adjusted to the surface over several nights, not minutes. If you are still deciding which construction suits you before the trial begins, our guide on how to choose the best orthopedic mattress covers what to look for in the support core.

Step by Step

How the Total Comfort 30-Night Mattress Trial Works

From the moment your order is placed to the moment a refund is issued, here is what the process looks like.

  1. Order and Delivery. Orders to Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah typically arrive within 1 to 3 working days, while deliveries to Abu Dhabi and Fujairah usually take 3 to 7 working days. Locations outside the main city limits or remote areas may take longer.

Your 30-night mattress trial begins from the delivery date, and eligible mattresses can be exchanged or returned within 30 nights of delivery, subject to the trial and return-policy conditions.

  2. Break-In Period. Total Comfort requires a minimum 14-night break-in period before a return or exchange can be requested. This gives you time to experience the mattress at home before deciding whether the comfort and support feel right for you.

  3. Sleep and Evaluate. Keep the mattress in its original condition throughout the sleep trial. Mattresses with stains or damage are not eligible for return. Using a mattress protector from night one can help keep the mattress clean and protect your return eligibility.

  4. Decide Within 30 Nights. If an eligible mattress still does not feel right after the required 14-night break-in period, you can request a return or exchange within 30 days of delivery. Exchanges are allowed one time only and follow the same minimum 14-night trial requirement.

  5. Pickup and Refund. An AED 100 return or exchange collection fee applies. Returns also carry a 4% processing fee, while exchanges are exempt from the 4% processing charge. Refunds are issued to the original payment method or by bank transfer within 7 to 14 business days after the mattress is collected and inspected.

Note: The 14-night break-in period is a requirement, not a suggestion. A return or exchange request can only be raised once those nights are complete, and it must still fall inside the 30-day window from delivery.

What to Check

What to Check in a Mattress Return Policy Before You Buy

Before relying on any mattress return policy, check the exact return window, minimum trial period, return or exchange options, collection and processing fees, condition requirements and product exclusions. Total Comfort's 30-night mattress trial sets these terms clearly, so reviewing them before purchase can help you understand exactly what applies.

Policy Term What Applies
Return Window Within 30 days of delivery, for eligible mattresses
Minimum Break-In 14 nights before a return or exchange can be requested
Exchanges Allowed one time only, subject to the same 14-night requirement
Collection Fee AED 100 on both returns and exchanges
Processing Fee 4% on returns, exchanges are exempt
Refund Timeline 7 to 14 business days after collection and inspection
Condition Required Original condition, with no stains or damage
Not Eligible Clearance or As-Is products, refurbished mattresses, AI mattresses and customized mattresses, including custom sizes and custom builds

The Real Window

Total Comfort allows eligible mattresses to be returned within 30 days of delivery. A return or exchange request can only be made after completing the minimum 14-night break-in period.

Refund vs Exchange

Eligible mattresses may be returned or exchanged under the policy terms. Exchanges are allowed once only. Returns are subject to a 4% processing fee, while exchanges are exempt from that processing charge.

Eligibility and Condition Requirements

The mattress must remain in its original condition and cannot have stains or damage. Clearance sale or As-Is products, refurbished mattresses, AI mattresses and customized mattresses, including custom sizes and custom builds, are not eligible for return.

Trial vs Warranty

Mattress Trial vs Warranty: What Is the Difference?

A mattress trial period and a warranty cover different things. One is about whether the mattress feels right for you, the other is about whether it was built correctly.

The 30-Night Trial

Designed to let you evaluate the comfort of an eligible mattress at home and decide whether it suits you.

It runs for 30 days from delivery and requires a minimum 14-night break-in period before a return or exchange can be requested.

The Limited Warranty

Separate from the trial. It applies to eligible manufacturing defects in the core spring unit and core foam structure, subject to the warranty terms for your mattress.

Depending on the product, warranty coverage may extend up to 10 years.

Mattress Trial Period FAQs

What fees apply to Total Comfort mattress returns and exchanges?+

An AED 100 collection fee applies to both returns and exchanges. Returns also include a 4% processing fee. Exchanges are exempt from the 4% processing fee and may be made one time only.

How many nights do I need to sleep on the mattress before requesting a return or exchange?+

Total Comfort requires a minimum 14-night break-in period before you can request a return or exchange. If the mattress is eligible, the request must still fall within 30 days of delivery.

Does using a mattress protector affect my trial eligibility?+

The Return and Exchange Policy does not state that a mattress protector is mandatory, but the mattress must remain in its original condition. Mattresses with stains or damage are not eligible for return, so using a protector can help keep the mattress clean during the trial.

Do bedding accessories have a trial period or return policy?+

The 30-night sleep trial applies only to eligible mattresses, not bedding accessories. Any return eligibility for accessories is subject to the applicable return policy and product condition requirements.

What is the difference between a trial period and a warranty?+

The mattress trial period lets you assess the comfort of an eligible mattress during the first 30 days after delivery, subject to the required 14-night break-in period. The limited warranty is separate and covers eligible manufacturing defects in the core spring unit and core foam structure under the warranty terms.
